Configuring Searching

You can customize how search results are returned for a profile by configuring the fuzzy search factor and configuring field boosting.

Setting up the fuzzy search factor

Fuzzy searching is a feature that is applied to search terms to help find results that may not perfectly match the search terms that library users enter. This helps users get search results that closely match their search terms, even when they misspell or mistype search terms.

You can configure the fuzzy search factor that is applied to a search profile.

To set up the fuzzy search factor

1 From the Admin console, choose Profiles.
2 For the profile you want to work with, choose Edit.
3 Under "Search Options," enter a value between 0.5 and 1.0 in the Fuzzy Search Factor field. For details, see Fields: Add/Edit/Copy Profile.
4 Save your changes.
5 Refresh the search cache (for details, see Refreshing the search cache).

Configuring field boosting

Field boosting allows you to give certain fields a higher relevancy and "boosts" items higher in a profile's search results. For more information, see Configuring field boosts
